Heating FAQs
These are some of the most frequently asked questions about heating. Please feel free to contact us if you can’t find your question answered below.
What Is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is an all-in-one heating and cooling system. Instead of separated systems, a heat pump can cool your home in the summer and heat your home during the winter.
Should I Change the Filter for My Furnace?
Yes, you should exchange the furnace air filters regularly. Be sure to use the indicated size for your furnace, and double-check that they are installed correctly. Depending on system usage, pet dander, hair, fur, dust, and other contaminants in the air, FAST of Florida suggests changing your air filter every 30 to 90 days.
Why Should I Clean the Area Around My Furnace When I Get a Repair?
Yes, keep the area around the furnace free of debris, dirt, and miscellaneous items. Keeping the area clear will also help ensure the equipment is more accessible for service.
How Do I Know That I Need a New Heater?
If your heater requires frequent repairs, is 15 years or older, or cannot warm your home effectively, we suggest replacing it. When a heater or HVAC system is older, it doesn’t operate as effectively and could end up costing you more money than it should.
